Stirling's take on Old Spice and some Frank Shaving brushes:

The brush on the right is a 28mm silvertip. I fell in love with their silvertip version of the Chubby (26mm) and thought I'd give this bigger variant a go. The middle brush is a 28mm G4 synthetic so the equivalent of the Silvertip. Feels very nice and soft and will be interesting to compare. The black brush on the left is a freebie Suki threw in along with a nice metal brush stand.

How are you finding the Jaws, Rob?

Hi Dave,

Only used it once, yesterday. It's as smooth as the 0.84 SB but a big step up in efficiency. Three passes and no touch ups left me BBS.
It did leave me with a number of sweepers on my chin but a splash of cold water soon sorted them out.
I was in a bit of a rush so more care needs to be taken next time.

I wouldn't mind trying the standard OC as it could be "just right".

Hi

New here and new to DE shaving, last time I used a safety razor was 40 years ago and that wasnt a good experience. I have been using Gillette cassette blades since then but I am cheesed off at the high price of the blades and they did not seem to be shaving me close enough.

So today I raided a supermarket and bought a Wilkinson razor and some bits to help me get a good shave. I have watched the many youtube vids,
sinatralennon in particular, so I hope I am ok in knowing what to do.

I also saw an unused travel kit in a charity shop with a little Gillette DE razor, if you can identify the razor model I would be obliged. The kit came with an Ever ready blade, again unused

Would expect the shaving experience to be better with the Gillette or the Wilkinson or nothing in it?

Welcome! Your vintage razor is a Gillette Tech. Both the razors you have will perform well but you'll need to develop your technique. Don't be put off by your first few shaves. I'd also recommend proper shaving soaps and creams over gel. Don't use the pressure you'd use with a cartridge razor on either of the razors you have there.
