Oh! Very nice!

This is everything I thought it would be. So much more nimble than the Empire razors, less fiddly than the Pall Mall, longer, more comfortable handle and despite the last of adjustment, a very well pitched shave; nearer too aggressive nor too mild, smack bang in the middle and a perfect compromise of efficiency and comfort.

The blade did not move around much at all despite not being screwed in place. I tried it angled by sitting on the base plate and pushed up against the blade stops, but in use the angle is determined by the handle. I might well fashion a little wedge to sit in behind GEM blades which, for me are just fine.

Prof. Blighty's Harlequin Balm

I was given this razor the other day, so felt compelled to try it. Bear in mind that I haven't used a cartridge in well over 18 months, so I may not have the knack to it anymore, but it was really just, almost, an OK shave. I had to take 4 passes and I'm still rough in places. On top of that, the alum really stung me today as well.

Overall not impressed, but I may just be out of practice with these things.

The synthetic brush felt especially strange when face lathering - I found myself pressing really hard on the brush when I really didn't have to because the tips were so soft that they were barely felt on the face.

I wish I'd remembered to include the Prof's balm in the photo as it really does seem superb stuff. The balm scent reminds me of the flavoured sherbet sticks I used to get as a wean.
