Well said, Mike. The Bathroom Set is, indeed, a smashing razor.Tues 10th October

ER 1912 Rediscovered.
Since taking up SE shaving I have neglected the ER 1912 in favour of the 1914,1924 and my favourite the Streamline. Though I have used a Gem Jnr 1912,I have not used an ER 1912 for about 18 months.
As many have been been lauding it's merits, I thought I should give one a run out. I chose the ER 1912 Bathroom set with the smart Alu. Handle. I decided to Shave initially with a Shim,as previously had found the British ER 1912 rather harsh.
I started off on the RH side with a Shim, and the Shave was ultra smooth yet efficient. After removal of the Shim I completed the Shave on the LH side, chin and upper lip. Though the Razor was more aggressive it was not unpleasant, and I ended up with a first class close all round finish.
I must make more effort to include the ER 1912 in my rotation. Though I intend to thin out my 1922 herd, I will keep a selection of those with the Handle variations. Today's Shave was really enjoyable and has revived my liking for this Iconic Vintage SE Razor.

Prep: Hot Shower & Bloom Water
Blade: Astra SP #1
Razor: Gillette Slim L3 Birth Year
Soap: Antica Barberia Mondial
Brush: Omega 30mm Synth Barber Handle
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel Lavender
EDT: Joop
Well this is the first time for me with the Gillette Slim and the Antica Barberia soap.
My recently acquired beloved Gillette is in need of some TLC but she works. I intend to have her re-plated in the not too distant future.
The razor performed superbly set at #7. Its nicely weighted and balanced and extremely smooth. A 3 pass irritation free shave with a few touch ups left me BBS.
I liked how the soap performed. Its thirsty and has a med/strong scent. Cushion is great, slickness maybe lacking a little but I will pass better judgement after a few more goes with it. Over all very pleased.
The brush is super soft and has plenty of back bone suitable for face and bowl lathering.
Finished off with my usual Thayers witch hazel and a generous splash of Joop this evening.
Enjoy your shaves
Let's see how this one goes first!I've sent one to @Benz3ne to get stripped, could be an option.
Thank you for the heads up Kevin. It sounds like a plan to me.I've sent one to @Benz3ne to get stripped, could be an option.
That was the quickest reply in history.Let's see how this one goes first!I've also made some enquiries about plating kits but the outlay is a bit bigger than just stripping the items...
