Ronnie James Dio RIP

Yes, I mentioned this to SWMBO last night. The conversation went like this:

Me: "Ronnie James Dio's died!"
SWMBO: "Oh no!"
Me: "... you don't know who Ronnie James Dio was, do you?"
SWMBO: "Wasn't he in cowboy films?"

I despair sometimes.

Without him there would be no "devil horns" a symbol which is recognised all over the world.

His granmother or mother (can't remember which) used to throw the devil horns at bad people and it was seen as a means of protecting yourself from evil.

He did it at a gig and the rest is history....................

The "devil horns" has a different meaning depending on which way round you choose to offer them (like the victory V or two fingered salute)

Ronnie James may have popularised the use of the devil horn but it's a symbol from the old country (Italy) that goes back centuries, I even have one myself to protect me from evil spirits, as it hasn't worked Rev-O keeps asking me in an exorcism.

Turn your hand the other way and MM is right about the other definition. In a Catholic Latin country nothing could be worse...

The clue is in cuckoo ld.

Is Dio's track "Holy Diver" about sexual activity in any particular religion? guess he could not get the word "muff" to fit in the tune

I like some of his stuff, listening to some of it now I don't like it as much as I did when I was young but it is still from an era of talented people who could sing and actually play instruments.

LOL I didn't really interpret it that way. Holy Diver and Last in Line are worth a listen for nostalgia's sake. I find myself listening to a lot of those albums from my youth, Dio, WASP, Saxon etc.

You never know where you might find yourself after Muff
