I am have a hard time getting my head around it. He had an excellent career for both club & country. He payed in what was widely regarded as one of the best midfield line ups in the modern era in football, at Leeds - Batty, McAllister, Speed & Strachan.

I cannot begin to imagine what his family are going thruogh at this time. My thoughts are with them.

RIP GS a Leeds legend. MOT.

It's genuinely shocking and sad news. I thought he was a fantastic player, a proper midfielder. As a Liverpool fan he was a player I always wanted us to sign. I watched him on Football Focus yesterday lunchtime and nothing seemed amiss, makes it all the more shocking.

Couldn't believe this when I heard it earlier. I sat eating my lunch whilst watching him on Football Focus, and today he's dead - suicide.

Made me feel really odd.

Ian

Minutes silence at Liverpool yesterday for Luca Jones (young son of Brad Jones) and Gary Speed but also two pretty good rounds of applause for both. Slightly ruined by someone in away end shouting out before the end.
