In my opinion the decatheletes don't get nearly the recognition they deserve. The decathlon is,perhaps, the most challenging event in the world of track and field. They are the true all-rounders, who can't be dilettantes if they're to compete successfully. If my ability matched my enthusiasm for the world of sport I would have left Ali, Phelps and Bolt in the shade. As for the latter he's right up there with the greats. I just get a little uncomfortable with the hype that he generates. There are many sports stars who deserve more recognition that they get simply because they lack charisma. But that's life!
Mo farah has done wonders. Amazing athlete and a credit to team GB. And they say immigrants and asylum seekers don't integrate. Boy from Somalia did good. Wouldn't write him off for Tokyo either.Mo has to get a mention again. Ethiopians tried to run his leggs off but still he prevailed. What's left for him to do? World Athletics Championships London 2017? Surely not Tokyo?

Yes, but at what cost? We'll never know the true financial cost of any Olympics due to the hubris of the IOC and host government. 'Bread and circuses' for the masses seems to be moto of those in charge and the cost be damned. In total the whole event in my books was really excellent, but then again I do tend to love any major sports event. Politics and all the surrounding crap aside.
