Check a thrift shop you might get lucky like it did. I found a hard plastic (former dog or salad) bowl that works great. Fits in the palm of my hand, a nice baby blue, decorated in a 70's diamond pattern. I ran a razor blade across the bottom of the bowl to increase the agitation effect. Plus It's indestructible.
Very nice too. There are quite a few which are similar in appearance on the Etsy site. For some reason, most appear to be made by artisan potters in the USA and Canada. How do you find that style of handle to use?I was very lucky the other day. Went into a British Red Cross charity shop to drop some surplus clothing off and found this nice lathering bowl for £1.50.
Sits just right in the hand and has both ridges and bobbles to help build the lather. No makers mark, so I suspect an artisan product bought on holiday somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try just now, but it still doesn't feel really secure. I think I will plod on holding itVery nice. I suppose these thumb-loop bowls are 'handed'? It looks like yours is designed to fit the left hand?
Just guessing, Sean, so I might well be wrong on that. Any which way, you found a great bowl there. Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try just now, but it still doesn't feel really secure. I think I will plod on holding it
