recommendation for 1944 birth year razor?

I've had a cunning plan to get my dad a birth year razor for Christmas. This would be 1944 (I think.. must check)

Any suggestions? I believe that Gillettes of this year aren't date coded (?) so this could be fruitless (?)

One of the models that sprung to my mind was a Gillette tech.. although these are notoriously mild I believe (?)

Am I missing the obvious choice?

I think he currently uses disposables, which is clearly a disgrace and needs to be rectified immediately.

Difficult.

Production was probably limited to Techs during the War.

The Ranger Tech (like a prototype Super Speed) was made for one year in 1941.

3 piece Tech was the only Gillette made in '44

and they'll be as rare as hobby hoss shite

Was the Bakelite Tech not from that era? Should be about 3 gazillion of them around because they were standard issue to the GIs

There are loads of three piece techs about - I just wrote a review (http://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1043)

But as they aren't normally date coded I'm not sure that helps?
