The General to me was okay , the Stainless Hawk is a much better razor as far as I am concerned , one of the smoothest I have come across , I tend to use an A plate with a Kai Pink and am really happy with the end result .
Sorry , I was continuing in the theme of the previous post to mine ,the Aluminium version , I moved all mine on .Which General was that? The aluminium and the stainless/brass are two different creatures to me.
I will happily say the Razorock V3 is a great razor but the Colonials have the edge. Throw in the stainless Mongoose and the whole SE thing is wide open.
For me it is great to see choice and haven't really met any SE which is below par.

Is there anywhere other than Italian Barber that sell it separately? I had the v2 and found it fairly mild.Try the regular SB plate. It's a very mild driver with Feather Pros.
Sounds like you need the A plate. Only UK option is the full setup at Shaving Station but you can probably sell your existing OC setup successfully on the BST.Is there anywhere other than Italian Barber that sell it separately? I had the v2 and found it fairly mild.
Try a Kai Captain Titan Mild Pink, Schick Proline or Feather Pro Guard blades.Hi All, I'm considering selling mine as most shaves I've had so far with the OC bottom plate and a Feather Pro have been a bit of a blood bath. I had put it down to having just shaved a beard of around 6 month's residence off but after a few shaves I had the same experience. I am more of a DE shaver although have used injectors in the past and really like my 1911/1912 (I forget the exact name but it takes the thicker SE blades that Connaught sell) plus the odd foray into shavettes and open razors so I think I can adapt fairly well to different razors.
Is it worth trying different blades or would I be better to try a different bottom plate (or just sell it altogether and stick with DE's)? If the former, would anyone care to sell me a little sample pack of blades to try out as I don't want to buy several whole packs if I can avoid it and I haven't seen anywhere that does sample backs of these types of blades.
A good price on one in the BST:Is there anywhere other than Italian Barber that sell it separately? I had the v2 and found it fairly mild.
Thanks, I ordered an A Plate from Shaving Station and some Schick Proline blades arrived too so I might give the open comb one more chance with a Proline blade but it's pending payment for sale just now anyway. I'm not a huge open comb fan in general though, it was just what Italian Barber had available at the time I ordered.A good price on one in the BST:

YMMV but A-plate + Schick Prolines or KAI Titan mild = smooth as butter. Very comfortable with very good effectivity.
