Having just bought the Hawk V 2 seeing this did raise an eyebrow. I guess if DE blades are cheaper? That would be a plus, also this will be less wide so some might find it easier perhaps. But the universality of the DE blade will be the main SP of this over a Hawk I imagine. What's the point of this razor? I also don't understand the 'eco' marketing pitch.
Single edge designs usually give more rigidity to a blade giving a better shave. In addition there is less waste. With my Focus R48 I usually change after 3 shaves which makes 6 shaves to a blade. When used in DE Mode I usually bin after 3 to 4....so more economical with less waste. I think the sales blurb is also aimed at cartridge users with an environmental conscience as lack of plastic is driven home. What's the point of this razor? The design intrigues me, especially the pins that hold the blade. If it ever hits the UK.....I will be ordering!
I think in this case we should agree to differ as I have a selection of both Fatip OCs and half DE Blade Razors. It may be a case of YMMV!Blade rigidity comes from the SE blades themselves (GEM or AC style) which are significantly thicker. These are still foil thin DE blades in the Eco razor. Get a Fatip OC and shave with just one side, done. Rigidly held DE blade.
