Ok this has kind of answered a question I was going to post about not being able to get a good enough edge on my straight razors.
Cheap and off of eBay come to mind lol
As someone who has only been into straight razor shaving for a few months I am getting on pretty well with my shavette and double edged razor. What would you suggest for my first proper razor?
Regards

First of all, if you want something in that price bracket, it pays to post in the BST (buy, sell, trade) section of the forum because you can place better reliance on anyone you deal with here, than an Ebay gamble. You may find that there are razors available from individuals or the likes of me who refurbish as a hobby and sell on.
There are a small number of UK web sites that deal in refurbished razors (I'm excluding new razors as they are generally out of that price range) such as the Strop Shop, Invisible Edge and Taylor's 1000.
As regards advice on what you should be looking for in a starter straight, go for something like 5/8" or 6/8" - some people recommend round point, although I think you should be able to manage any shape within reason. Neil Miller posted some additional advice at the top of the straight razor section so this is worth a look.
Finally, on the subject of Ebay bargains, as Neil said at the beginning of this thread - if it looks too good to be true, it is.
