This will give you the burn to rememberProraso Green aftershave splash lotion 'Lozione Dopobarba' , which burns like hell. Felt nothing like it. Pure pain, but I love it.
Shortly afterwards followed by a generous helping of Proraso Liquid Creme... 'Crema Liquida'. Super cooling, super soothing.
Makes me feel fresh, cooled and clean every time.

You guys like this stuff?
Love a bit of Proraso. It's a classic.
I've got a fair bit of artisan stuff as well and high end soaps and creams. I still rate the Proraso creams highly. I prefer the creams to their soaps though.I like it when a standard 'mass produced' product turns out to be excellent. I understand the whole small batch 'artisan' industry, and there are some great products there.... but I don't like the whole hipster bullcrap snobbery thing that it usually generates.
I am sure there are elements of the shaving world the two with trend of course, but most people I find particularly on hear tend to be very performance based , so things get judged on how they work for that person.I like it when a standard 'mass produced' product turns out to be excellent. Proraso make some good products , I like their Sandalwood Splash (You gotta like Sandalwood of course). I unfortunately seem to reach with the soap and pre shaves.
I havn't tried Proraso soap yet, I have a tub of their green soap, that I got for the overnight man bag, but never used it yet.
Old spice and Brut I have in the collection and have used them since I was about 17. I have always suffered from bad spots/acne, bad diet likeley had a lot to do with it but am currently treating my face with a specialist face wash and benzoyl peroxide so skins a bit sensitive at the minute hence why I probably get such a burn. That is sacrilege! Get the Green out and give it a whirl, it shouldn't be hiding in an overnight bag!
If you're getting too big a burn from AS it could be you're getting too close with your shaving and need to ease up a bit. I like to use a splash of witch hazel immediately after shaving and leave it to dry before putting on the AS. I think it cools it down a little and feels really fresh & clean.
You're right there are some great mass-produced AS splashes available. Some I would recommend are Brut, Old Spice, Pinaud Clubman, Floid, Speick, Pitralon. The last few in that list you can pick up in Europe really cheap when you're on your jollybobs.
