I want to get in the world of straight razor shaving. Never done it before, but the usual Gillete, Mach3, etc are useless against my super thick beard hairs (ironically, I'm bald, sigh).
Anyway, I bought a cheap razor online to start learning (maybe I should have invested in a proper one from the beginning), and the problem is it is way too blunt. I've been honing it with a 3000 grit stone, but I haven't been able to get a bevel yet. The blade is also slightly curved. So, I was thinking of taking it to a professional, to get a new bevel. I asked the people at www.sharpening-service.co.uk but they don't do straigt razors.
I live in Bristol. Can anyone recommend any professional sharpener around?
Thank you very much.
I have mostly old cheap razors basically if it has Sheffield steel stamped on it you should not have a problem
Or made in solingen. If you want to borrow one and see how you get on drop a reply
Billy will do it for you for a decent price I am sure. I think what they mean by cheap is Chinese or pakistani steel. A Sheffield or Solingen made blade is decent quality.
