I was wondering about these pins as I have the same watch but with an Orange Face and they were just pins. The tools you can get are great though, they make the job so much easier.

The nice thing about doing it yourself is that you get a good feeling of satisfaction, in addition, to not scratching the strap up as it's yours, & you'll take care of it - not like some random jeweler! Also, you now have the tools to help out friends/family when they get a new watch (I speak from experience...)
