As the Alan Paine is being returned, I went for the pink John Smedley.View attachment 52067
Pink is originally a mans colour before the Barbie doll came on the scene hence men's shirts are still in the pink colour. As the Alan Paine is being returned, I went for the pink John Smedley.View attachment 52067
They are not boxy like a lot of Polo shirts, as the material is very fine it's actually figure hugging lol. They are also not cut as wide as a lot of other Polo shirts. I have think I have the largest they do.Quality and finish looks very nice. How is the fit on John Smedley polos? True to size?
Sunspel has off shored production for Polo shirts to Portugal and other items to Turkey.I was surprised to see the Sunspel was made in portugal, I thought they were all made down the road from me in Long Eaton.
Smedley are relatively local to me too, I often pass their factory when out cycling.
Lovely stuff but out of my price range sadly.
I think Gran Sasso, Maerz, Falconeri and Nicolo P of London are next. I got a Glenmuir, and they have another on their website that I like. However, I only buy on clearance or sale. So may have to wait a whole year.Polo shirts both short sleeve and long in my wardrobe:- Lacoste, Sunspel, John Smedley Sea Island, Vilebrequin, Rubinacci, Cordone, Permanent Style Friday Polo. Would like Missoni and Fedeli in my arsenal too!
The two Dutch Polo's have gone back. The sizing chart doesn't make sense, and the cotton isn't soft at all. Luckily PayPal will cover the return.I use to have a good 20 Polo shirts in my "wardrobe" but have only had around 3 a season the last few years. I have gone mad and ordered 12 including 4 from Canada and 2 from Holland. These now should last for a lifetime.
Anyone have any Joules polo shirts ?
My wife wears some of their clothing, and it all seems to be good quality
I've ordered four for this summer
Not had one of their polo shirts but did have a regular short sleeve shirt from them. Build quality was stellar and cut was pretty stylish but the cotton was like none I've ever felt, very rough, almost canvas like... Never wore it due to that. Hopefully the polos are better.
My own preference is for Fred Perry, their slim fit range was excellent but has since been discontinued in favour of one sort of semi-slim fit range, either way the quality was and remains excellent. Lacoste and Hugo Boss used to be my favourites but the quality noticeably dropped in the past decade, these days you might as well buy from Primark as those legacy designers, the (lack of) quality is pretty much identical.
