Thanks to the wonders of the shopfitters art, you could be forgiven for thinking the store had been there for a hundred years or more. In fact, when this photo was taken, the firm had only recently moved from its former premises in Jermyn Street, just up the road. NB: The Red Lion pub, immediately next door!
