Option Five DE Razor

It's not every day we see a razor come out that is;
- Designed in England,
- Manufactured in China, and
- Based/Shipped out of Switzerland.

Will this new entry onto the wetshaving scene - "Option Five" - that borrows design from both cartridge and DE razor styles - make an international splash next year?

Quick data points
Material: Nickel alloy.
Weight: 120gr/4.2 oz
Manufacturing: Cast
Cost: $64.90 / £52 - with free shipping right now for the initial product launch and X-Mas holiday season).
(Regular US shipping for instance will be $9)
Note: By using code "friendsofdarkbulb" you get 10% off - AND free international shipping (dropping the price to $58 shipped)

The razor has a rather unique look as far as DE razors goes;

The buttons on the side are for releasing the head (which by the way is designed in a way similar to Hone and Pils that hides the end-tabs of the blade. Maybe it's a European thing ).

Note:
I had a chance to chat live with John of Option Five earlier today and have provided him a link to this quick write-up so if there are any questions please feel free to ask away as John indicated he'd be happy to join and field any questions.

Maybe a forum pass-around, etc?

Pass-around would be good, I think I like it , would love to try then buy.

Maybe you guys can talk John from Option.Five into something like that (and let him know what a pass-around is all about). I hope he signs up here, seemed like a good guy.
Well if he signs up it will give us a chance to let him know about the benefits of a pass-around both for him and us and it will give John a chance to really sell his product to us, let us know what is new with this and why we need it. I hope to hear from him soon.

I can say one thing, he did ONE good thing with that commercial, not a darn thing about it is insulting or deriding to potential customers. Although it would have been nice if they hadn't done all the filming in 400$ a night 6star hotel rooms. Making a product look like its only for the rich and pretty people is rather off putting for some of us common folks.

I do see the head release as an issue for residue build up.

Neither do I.
I like the design enough - and the price - that I'm considering picking one up.

I am thrilled to know your findings.

Well.. just when I thought the only razor I would buy next year is the Model T..

(Btw, I just saw it's also 10 percent off if you sign up on the mailing list.. )

Thanks, I completely missed the 10% off deal...that would bring it down to under $60 shipped.
Problem is I signed up but never got my code.

Don't forget the secret 10% discount

Fair point.

However, if he was making a realistic commercial around my way, it would feature me getting up, looking old, tired and crap, staring in the mirror as I scratch myself and ponder the day and my choice of software. The soundtrack would involve three young kids running around exhibiting chronic disobedience, inter-sibling violence, and a mad rush swirling around the house. As I have often said, it is impossible for us to depart the house without it looking like the poll tax riots have just been re-enacted during breakfast.

I'm not sure it would help sales.
