Old type Gillette

Arko was the first soap I ever tried and at the time I enjoyed it. Scent was bad but it lathered up fine and performance was ok. Since then I've realized there's lots better products available and never use the stuff except when I feel nostalgic about my time in a Turkish prison on cleaning day.
I've never been in a Turkish prison so that might be a factor, but I like the smell :D

Well, i've just had a shave with my 104 year old Gillette :)
I put in a new Gillette 7 OClock Super Platinum blade, lathered up the Arko & got to grips with my new razor.
Very nice, I really like it. The teeth are quite noticeable on the face but it caused me no issues & no cuts. Result was (according to Sophie) a nice smooth face.
This is a definite hit, I like it a lot.

If you had REAL carbon steel blades like it was meant for, it would be sooo much better.

Mr. know-it-all strikes again.

Its been proven many times over the decades. The carbon blades these razor were actually designed with, have a different resistance to bending. And if you carefully study some of these razors, like the

I had the "bostonian" in silver like plate material. FIne razor, lovely heft. But with a modern super thing blade, the blade could bend far too much on its own. Even a treet black beauty still had a good bit of flex to the edge. Traded it off because i couldnt hack the head shape.
