I’ll go out on a limb and say I might even prefer wee Cyril’s tallow soap to the mighty Fat. By the way Traditional Shaving Co. are doing the 99g CRS soap for £3.45. Link to Cyril R Salter Shaving Soap
Being short of arm, long of pocket and in keeping with the tight-fisted Scotsman image, I shall stick to Salter and MWF.Salter = DR Harris at a cheaper price, so long as it's Lavender that you're after ... so, if you like it and want more scents then look to DR Harris.
The expense of DRH soaps often comes from the wooden bowl. If you buy the refills, they're quite reasonably priced. I've picked them up for ~£11 each before. Not bad considering how long they last.Being short of arm, long of pocket and in keeping with the tight-fisted Scotsman image, I shall stick to Salter and MWF.
I love the scent of Windsor but I grudge paying several times the price just for a bit of whiff that soon disipates. The EdT however, may be purchased by my adoring fans and family members as homage. Otherwise, it’ll be jolly old Quorum for me.
Thus spake the Gairdner.
Indeed but at £3.45 for Salter at 99g and already having a wooden bowl and a suitable dish to stick the soap cake to, it’s still several times the price and I’m getting thriftier in my old age. Necessity, alas…The expense of DRH soaps often comes from the wooden bowl. If you buy the refills, they're quite reasonably priced. I've picked them up for ~£11 each before. Fair enough chap. That CRS soap is a bargain.Indeed but at £3.45 for Salter at 99g and already having a wooden bowl and a suitable dish to stick the soap cake to, it’s still several times the price and I’m getting thriftier in my old age. Necessity, alas…
The Cyril Salter soap has a very mild scent to my nose but have not used the DR Harris soap so unfortunately I cannot give a direct comparison. Is the Cyril Salter Lavender soap the same scent as DR Harris’s Lavender?
I'm convinced it's the same soapIs the Cyril Salter Lavender soap the same scent as DR Harris’s Lavender?

Right! Own up, who bought all the feckin’ Salter Soap? There’s feckin’ b*all left! Ooft, I’m keeping my secrets to myself in future - ruddy plunderers and pillagers…Indeed but at £3.45 for Salter at 99g and already having a wooden bowl and a suitable dish to stick the soap cake to, it’s still several times the price and I’m getting thriftier in my old age. I'm interested in how you get on with the new soaps, as I'd love a performing Trumpers soap bowl. I've used a few refills before and they really were shite.
I am waiting for your reports, I think I would like Eucris but like others, I've avoided Trumper altogether because of the reputation of the hard soaps, even though the creams are said to be good. I don't know why but I don't massively like creams, even though the Proraso sandalwood and the Palmolive Classic I have are perfectly serviceable.
