Anyone got any experience of O2 broadband service?

Or a good link to a useful review?

I use Madasafish. Presently £11.65 but due to go to £14.65 soon. 5GB per month, up to 8Mb. Been with them a few years. Excellent service.

As an O2 iPhone user, seems an obvious link up. Got Sky, but not keen on that. Use BT still, but not keen on that.

This is the standard O2 package.

Apart from the upheaval of changing, I will need to check out the O2 coverage in my area which will no doubt affect speed of use.

Had a bit more time!

If your exchange has been unbundled by O2 it's pretty good, if your exchange isn't unbundled by O2 it's pretty crappy.

Incidentally is Madasafish not a BT brand now? (like Plusnet)

When I'm looking for a new ISP (which I don't do regularly - only switched 3 times since I had broadband installed in 1998) I tend to mooch around sites like www.thinkbroadband.com or www.dslzoneuk.com and see what's being said about the 'candidates' - the comparison chart at dslzone in particular is handy as it gives a very quick view of which ones to avoid (those to the right on the chart generally - http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php)

I also avoid:

Any ISP that advertises heavily - if their product was good, they'd be gaining customers through word of mouth, why are they spending the money that they should spend on the service on advertising?

Any ISP that does not offer short term (1 month, 3 month contracts) - things can change quickly in ISPland - if it goes crappy do you want to be stuck for 12 or 18 months?

Any ISP that has a premium rate helpline - I've not called my ISP more than twice in 10 years - that's how it should be - and I certainly shouldn't be paying any more than a regular phone call to do so.

Thanks HM.

I have no idea who Madasafish are part of. I was with Gobalnet before they were taken over by Madasafish. Knew nothing about them then or now. They have provided a faultless service. On the few occasions I have needed help they have speedily dealt with my issues or problems. I will try to renogiate my terms soon. If I feel disgruntled I will follow your links and see what my options are.

Wow, Virgin, Virmin Media is shafting us. We pay £25 per month for unlimited at '10meg' d/l speed.

Never, ver had a problem with it in almost 10 years but the price is quite high.

not much choice, if any, for cable customers
