Yes and no. What is important is proper prep. Make sure the stubble is ready for the razor. A pre-shave is one weapon in the arsenal. Have a shower, hot towel, face scrub, pre-shave, put lather on your face and let it sit for a few minutes, shaving oil. Pick two to three of those and you're shaving on gas (or whatever the saying is). Pre-shaves help, but there are alternatives. Whatever feels best for you. Experiment. Not used any pre-shave - does it really make a difference ?
Pick two or three. Shower and pre-shave. Face scrub and hot towel. Shower, hot towel, shaving oil. Etc... Having a shower is a pre-shave treatmentshower, hot towel, face scrub, pre-shave, put lather on your face and let it sit for a few minutes, shaving oil
Wash in hot water is basically the same as having a shower, so that's two of those I recommended.wash in hot water to clean and prepare, good lather and let it sit for a couple of minutes
I was just saying that you confirmed my point, Paul. At the end of the day there is no "one prep fits all". Try and learn. And enjoy.
I just got some of that Harris Arlington soap today..I haven't used it yet...£ 10.95 posted....Its a Tallow soap and as far as I can gather its dynamite & lasts for months...Its nicely scented but lightly ..Shouldn't cause any irritation ...Well fingers crossed...DE shaving, use dished shaving soap (Taylors of Old Bond St., currently)
Not used any pre-shave - does it really make a difference ?
In case relevant I'm in a soft water area.
If so I need to buy some more soap .. and considering D. R. Harris Arlington soap
and thinking I 'might' try the D. R. Harris Arlington pre-shave lotion.
Comments ? advice?
+ 1 on that...Well said..I was just saying that you confirmed my point, Paul. At the end of the day there is no "one prep fits all". Try and learn. And enjoy.
