Ok, I've had my time with the newbie pass around box. It really is an excellent thing for new wet shavers and there's lots of really interesting stuff in there. I've used and tried a few different things and I've also added to it for the next person. Can I ask what razors are in the box please? I'm not exactly new but I've only got two razors and I'm currently experiencing the passaround Muhle R41. It might be nice to try a few of the razors in this box depending on what they are.

There's the slim twist and an Edwin Jagger DE 89. Both considered mild razors and great for those starting out.

I've never tried a DE razor although have my own brush and soap that I was given for a birthday 4 years ago. Although I think I have discovered recently that I have been doing it wrong :/ I am seriously considering getting my own DE razor, but would love to be able to try it out before I commit (I'm a student so all monetary commitments are considerable!) Can I receive it next?

Thanks to Kevy for sending the parcel - arrived today and got my first shave in. Posted details of my routine in SOTD. Started off with the EJ DE89 and Derby blade, seems to be suitably mild and also fairly standard. Definitely missed some parts of my face and hit others too deep! Seems not to have got as close as a cartridge yet, although I was going gentle today and think I still need to work on my lather, was thinking I'd got for the direct application to the face technique although it may be easier to use a bowl/mug for re-soaping I think. Hoping to shave again soon. If anyone else wants it please let me know.

Was thinking about getting some proraso pre shave cream and some cheapy Witch Hazel for post... any thoughts on either of those would be great - they seem to be commonly used.
