You'll actually see the results of some work I asked him to do. It's on its way back to me.
Update shortly!!!
Will the price of Streamlines be taking a new rise?

Certainly looking forward to seeing what you'd commissioned for a new shine. I took a long, hard look at my collection and concluded that I have just one (a Gillette Goodwill) that I'd consider a replate for. I went the other way with a few tatty Gillettes, and took the plate off to reveal the brass.

I'm sure you'll be interested with the results. I'm sure this guy is going to receive future commissions.

My well worn Micromatic Open Comb:

I contacted John and asked if he could remove the chrome plate back to brass. Initially he tried but couldn't remove the chrome. So I gifted him the razor for his trouble, telling him I would probably PIF it anyway.
Long story short, he came back to me after a few days with a video showing me he had invested in some chrome stripping chemicals and had in fact succeeded in taking it back to brass, and said to me, it's yours, just pay for my service.
Here it is:

I'll let you decide how happy I am.

Very excited about the return of my resurrected Goodwill ...

The razor came to me as just the head (thanks to my pal @ajc347 ) and it has happily sat on a reproduction early style ball-ended handle that I got from Connaught. JJ had the necessary bits to make up a carbon fibre handle which I think suits it really well.

Very excited indeed ... it's fresh out of the fryer, so to speak and will be in my hands in a couple of days.

Super chap to deal with and from the looks of this, he's very good at his work.

Alas, upon stripping the plate the razor was not all brass or I would have had it returned de-plated and polished. The cap, oddly, was some kind of alloy which JJ told me was silver in colour and he couldn't quite identify. Minor warning that it might not plate with his process, but he would polish it up regardless. Happily, the plate took ... and I think you'll agree that it looks stunning!

That looks amazing! I speak with John quite regularly and you won’t find a nicer bloke. Always willing to go the extra mile and will often have suggestions or options you may not have thought of or considered. Neither will he take on work just for the sake of making a buck - honest advice all the way.
