New Kent Shaving Soap Formulation (no longer MWF)

It does look like EJ or/and Muhle's packaging as well. Their pucks come in 65g.

Goodness knows @dodgy! Bootleg? "Contains Lanolin" on the front yet not listed in the INCI on the back. Frankly, it looks like Edwin Jagger's formulation.

Thanks guys,

Can't remember the vendor and the plastic wrap is thick enough to prevent any definite MWF/Kent classic scent from being detected. Now I'm tempted to at least make a small hole and take a huff.

It could well have been a stop-gap (panicstock) to tide over from the end of the tallowate era. If you recall, Kent were not told about the changeover and let a few of the new palmate through with the older tallowate stickers ... then got their own alternative formulation. This soap could have been from the gap in between (my three dots).

... or straight-up bootleg, again, particularly given the "contains lanolin" is not borne out in the ingredients.

Anyway, betcha it smells of Edwin Jagger/Muhle Aloe Vera :ROFLMAO:

I can just about smell the scent from my Muhle Sea Buckthorne pucks in their cellophane wrapping. There are no stickers on my pucks.

Funny you should mention the Sea Buckthorne soap and after a while I was able to find one of them [the EJ version] in the arsenal. This one is plastic sealed also, but zero scent remains after so many years. Does look similar though to the Kent on the outside but the true test is in the unwrapping to see whats up. No stickers on my EJ soap and ingredients seem the same I believe. I remember liking that scent a lot and used some in the past.

Oddly enough it is still the sorbitol formulation on their website.

... and now it's the MWF formulation, but out of stock on the refill.

I really don't know what this means and half of me wonders if Mitchell's pulled a fast one and dumped the last of their stocks on Kent or whether Kent really have acquired the formulation as their own. I queried Kent on the matter by email a couple of months ago and they were adamant that the sorbitol formulation was there to stay and that the MWF formulation cakes being sold in the US was old stock. Old, but new/current stock.

Seems the truth has borne out ... although again, I have no idea what it means. Fingers crossed the sorbitol formulation has gone and the MWF formulation is theirs.

Not available to stockists, so this will be left over stock. As they bought the soap from Mitchell's they may not know who makes it.

Kent did inadvertently receive the first of the palmate reformulations which a few got out with the older tallowate labelling as they were not sent stickers. Before too long, they clearly refuffed Mitchell's and went with a sorbitol formulation.

When second reformulation MWF cakes under Kent branding seemed to be supplied by Amazon US, I queried Kent on the matter. Quite a long back and forth asking about whether they were now supplying the last MWF formulation, but they were adamant that this was not a thing and that the sorbitol formulation on the website was what they were now supplying.

At the very same time, it became news that Mitchell's had called it a day and I progessed my query with Kent to ask about whether they were taking on the shaving soap. Again, the answer was no and that the sorbitol formulation was what they now stock and supply.

... so curious that they were at the same time supplying what is presumably the last stocks of MWF while listing the sorbitol formulation on their website and have now switched the website. I guess next month, they'll switch it back. Archive.org only has one change this year and that's from January:

I suppose in the end, it's just a SKU to Kent - shaving soap puck. Wishful thinking.

We have seen (from @dodgy) that at some point in the past they've sent out Edwin Jagger pucks as their shaving soap - the barcode is correct.

Is this top pic the ingredients to the last MWF formulation, and the one you mentioned you preferred over the tallow version? The bottom is I think the last version of Kent’s tallow soap.
