New In Stock New Custom Brushes from OMEGA

G'day @Paul,

Can you please find out where is the synthetic fibre MB1899 comes from or where is made?

Because it feels almost the same as the GC5 premium synthetic made from Japan, because, I'm comparing side by side in my den during my shaves as I have three G5C brushes and one Omega MB1899 as above.

Also, is Omega planning another resin colour handle from the MB1899 series

FYI below

Cheers ;)

Edit:- Furthermore, the GC5 premium synthetic made from Japan is my most favourite knot on the market.

That's the same fibre like G5C just bulb shaped. As far as I'm aware all those fibers come from Japan factory but the knot assembly is done in China.

@SpeedyPC From OMEGA- "this raw material can only be sourced in CHINA !"

To make already available fibres is a big task/investment. Making a new fibre is even more costly (tens of millions), no one could do this for shaving brushes. The only reason we have synthetic shaving brush fibres is because they were developed for the make-up brush market.

So is their a synthetic fibre development lab in Japan or a full scale factory producing these fibres, anyone?

I remember Japanese Company Toray pioneering the next level of synthetic brushes with a patent they bought from Dupont in the 70s. Till a few years back Toray was actively involved in producing synthetic fibres for shaving brushes which were then tied into a shaving brush knot in other countries including Thailand and China as well. Germany and Korea also have been active players in manufacturing fibres for synthetic brushes, the Muhle STF XL Dense with plant fibres remains my fav synth knot of all time and the only one that is badger like in behavior.

Paul, you actually do have a point that almost all except a rare few synth knots are made outside of China. To me at the end of the day regardless of where it is made or tied, if it performs well and looks good enough for me to pick up for a shave, I'll take it.

The New Omega Brushes at Connaught look super good and are very tempting.
