My next Custom Straight Razor

I appreciate the work that goes into one and I like to look at them from an aesthetic point of view but each to their own. Unfortunately they do nothing for me. Just too big looking. But good shaving to anyone that wants to own something different.

I'm with jack here, the bigger heavier grinds just seem to mow whiskers with ease, I haven't used a full hollow for a couple of years, I find I just don't like the flex of a full hollow, but each to their own, that's what I love about this hobby the variety.
But I love my vintage wedges most of which are 5/8-6/8 but agree with jack the bigger the better!!

Just a quick question. How big is the actual cutting edge on these monster razors please?
They can be as big or as small as you like on a custom razor for example most of my customs are around 2.75 inches actual cutting edge length but I could easily make one with only 1 inch or one with a 5 inch cutting edge ala sweeney todds razor!!,but in general they follow the same geometry as the vintage straights.

Ray Winston as Sweeney Todd. That was a brilliant drama

@EdBrice .I'm thinking Ed next year I might be asking you to make me an 11/8 wedge with a Brass frame back.I wasn't sure whether or not it could be done but D.D said it can be.Would you be up for this?
Hi jack it's not something I have done as of yet as I'd imagine I would need a milling machine £Â£ to cut an exact groove in the brass so that the spine can slide in, I think drew is your man as far as I can see from a quick search for custom frameback, he is the only maker that has already made one.

A few months ago he told me that he had only ever made the one so you are correct. It looked very nice from what I remember , going off the picture I saw.At the time he said he would love to make one for me but since then he has had a lot of customers from America & there is a waiting list with no guarantee as to when it could be made so I left it.A year away is a long time anyway. The brass frameback is just one on my wish list.I'm hoping everything is going well with the razors Ed & I look forward to seeing more of your work in the near future.

He makes a great razor, I have and use all the time on of my own, you made a great choice.
