Ok, I've seen a few "confessional" posts, time for my own..
Member since August 2010... I've been "collecting" a few nice ones...

These are almost all mint, and no, they're not for sale!
I do have quite a few more, but they're not in the display case, and they'll get sold at one point.

p.s. and for all those that have my adress, just remember, I also own a gun!

I believe only Pope Benedict the XV could forgive those sins my son.

And there are a few I regret having sold, a mint & boxed Fatboy, mint & boxed slim adjustable. (yes slash, I'm looking at you!)
Also a NOS tech that was lovely, and I sold for very cheap... ah well...

Still looking for a few, a No.66, a Toggle, an Executive and why not a 195. (and anything else interesting of course!)
Thing is, I'm a cheap bastard, so won't get any of them unless very lucky.

Nice set of razors Max.

There are far worse things to spend your money on and given how firm prices are in the market for razors in good nick they could also be seen as an investment. Hmmm, maybe I should see about switching some of my pension into a DE Razor fund

That's my take as well, I'm not sure how much my collection is worth, but it's a better ROI then putting the money in the bank, that's for sure

Frenchblade.

Here's a toggle for you.

OUCH at the price !!! Nice Razor though.

I think you missed the part about being a cheap bastard, so no, 600 USD is not going to happen
Though I do like the nickel plated one better than the gold. And it's not boxed either...

Ah well... such is life..

You never know your luck, all a question of right place right time and a punter not knowing what they have. Amazing though the prices some of these things go for. Lovely collection by the way.

What's doin Max,

Nice little selection of razors that I bet you never use.......heh. Yeah, I'm the same way when it comes to shaving with pristine pieces. That's what everyday shavers are for, and not those minty ones. However, I do get to look at the ones I can't actually use.

Thanks for starting the thread,

Martin

Oh, here's a razor I bet you don't have. From what I understand, this 1934 type Aristocrat may have been owned by the famous author of The Naked Lunch. Yep, you can see the initials WSB on the blade case, and they're also on the razor itself. That would be William Smiley Burroughs.

Found this on ebay and paid waaay too much for the thing. I do enjoy a good comedy though, and Burroughs was the best for that. Yeah, he could make you laugh with ju.......oh oh. Hmmm, that S looks a lot like a D.

*Cough*, oh crap.......never mind..

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and thanks Martin for wanting to PIF me that lovely Aristocrat to add to my collection, really, to kind you are good sir!
I got a cheap display case at IKEA, I thought it an interesting item to have in my living room...
And I've used most of them at least once, just to try

There are a few in the display case I didn't mention, the 2 Rolls (one is very mint & has all the paperwork), The Futur and the kamasori.

More details of my straights collection: http://theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=6591 and http://theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... 798#p90798 (although a few have been sold since then)

Who knows how long this hobby lasts (the collecting part), maybe in a few months I'll flog it all on BST!
