From all the kick starters, this does look different to me and could fit into a niche
I have a Dorco cart razor that has seven blades and is dirt cheap. It costs nothing after initial costs. Not a cent and I've had it about a year by now.
I never use the razor - prefer Fusion tr.ack-ballSurely you have to pay for some cartridge blades? Or have you invested in a rubber razor pit?
I'm not sure what it adds?
Will it reduce the number of passes - probably not as people will still want to go WTG, XTG and maybe ATG based on preference
Will it be smoother - probably not as @Holyzeus has said, the first blade will probably remove most of the lather
On the plus side, it allows for three levels of aggressiveness in one razor, but that's not much different from an adjustable.
It actually becomes more expensive to run than a normal DE or SE or even a half blade SE such as the Rocnel.
I'm intrigued. I'd like to know how it performs, but I'm a little sceptical as to what the benefits will be. I'm all for innovation though and would be happy to be shown otherwise however.

So the guard worth a go then? Can you compare it to any other shave? And I totally agree it will appeal to some for novelty, for some who just want to give it a try and more power to the them. Shaving is subjective each to their ownInitially, some glea that it wasn't yet another FEATHER holder. Half DE, fine. It looks to hold them firm with minimal exposure ... and then it struck me: it's a replaceable cartridge. Now, that in itself is not actually a bad thing - yes, there's all the usual negatives, but then there's the positives: you're not throwing away cartridges, it's cheap to refill, it's customisable, not just blade choice, but blade number.
You know what? I like the concept. Not enough to buy into it, mind as the Gillette Guard does pretty much the same thing in the end and costs pence anyway.
