The best oil to use under your shaving foam/soap is a Mignon product called Plant serum. You apply three to four drops to the skin before your shaving cream. It provides protection to the skin and slip for the razor without interfering with the closeness of the shave.
We use it in all our shaves and follow it with the Mignon aftershave balm, which doubles as a moisturiser.
It cost £25 and lasts ages if used right.
