Is the micromatic as aggressive as I've heard it to be?

They are more aggressive than the 1912s and featherweights etc

I personally find them to have a little too much bite for me

But horses for courses and all that

Yet in my opinion it shaves better and with less irritation than the 1912.

But maybe my opinion should not be given too much weight, since the razor that gives me the least amount of irritation of all the razors I have tried, is the Merkur 37c Slant. And thats even compared to a Gillette Tech.

But used right the Micromatic is a wonderful piece of kit in my opinion.

I quite like the Micromatic, especially the OC. As mentioned already, when used right they are fantastic shavers. They have a very narrow sweet spot, if you can stay in it, your on a winner.

They can be got for a song as well so worth a go.

I liked the shave of the tapered end (closed comb) Micromatic.
Not very aggressive though.

MM should give you a great, irritation free shave. If you prep your skin and treat the razor with respect it's easy.

Main thing to remember is you shave with very little angle compared to DE razors. The instructions say flat to the skin, some people increase the angle a little bit.

I've used the 1912 style Gem&Evert-Ready; Gem Junior; and the OC MM. i've really found no difference between the 1st three. The OC MM does shave differently, may be because of the handle as much as the head. I do have CC MM tha i just received, will try that tomorrow to see if it's more like the 1912 or the OC MM.
