Ask Blyth Spirit or Rik (I sold mine to him). I found it to be the meanest* razor I've ever had the displeasure to use.

* - aggressive, unforgiving, harsh...just plain mean.

i got sort of a reply but said if remember right holiday till 30 august...all i could decipher

thnx anyways...maybe ill skip this line of thought

I use a R41 head on an EJ handle when I need an extra close shave/ feeling keen/ got the time. Does the job for me, but I have to concentrate - makes a Slant feel like a Superspeed :twisted:

I thought the R89 was the standard head ? Probably me being dim. :oops:

I had one of those and it flayed me.
Later on I tried the "Mk II" which I found light, tinny and slippery to hold.
I am presently getting aquainted with a Merk 11c.

The shaving shack has them

right no more thinking bout it...its abandoned

shaving shack minus my points means i can get this for £18...maybe worth a punt

thnx guys for advice and direction

I like the old R89 that I got from Tony and I agree with what other guys have said, it is quite an aggressive razor. It needs a slow hand an an easy touch. ;-)

However it gives a close, close shave. Not really for everyday use as I found my face feeling a little tender after a week or so but of course I shave in the morning before work (as I'm sure the majority do)and I'm normally half asleep. Sometimes this makes me a little sloppy and heavy handed.

The R41 though is lighter, and gentler with what I think is the Merkur OC head. A nice shaver, looks good and is well put together. These make good daily shavers IMHO.
