https://news.stv.tv/west-central/final-biscuit-baked-as-scotlands-mcvities-factory-ceases-productionTried a McVities Digestive today for the first time in years, I usually enjoy the cheaper brands. I have to say it was the most tasteless biscuit I’ve ever eaten, what happened to them, anybody know ?
Dave.
This is true. Also sensitivity to specific tastes shifts with age - children are much more sensitive to and traditionally don't like bitter tastes - this passes with adolescence. It's an evolutionary defense mechanism - most poisons are bitter. - I.as you get older your taste buds are not as sensitive as they were years ago.
Me too DerekI like a digestive with my cuppa , I was a McVities fan but price and taste wise I now prefer ALDI’s own .
My late mother called them Chocolate Wheatens. Absolutely no idea why!
Me three. I also like Wacko and Chunky biscuit bars, also made by Belmont.I like a digestive with my cuppa , I was a McVities fan but price and taste wise I now prefer ALDI’s own .
My Father had what I thought was a peculiar habit at the time , putting a copious amount of butter on a rich tea biscuit , having tried it later on in life , I can see where he was coming from .I've never really liked plain Digestives, regardless of which brand they are. I have always preferred the chocolate ones. I also LOVE McVities' Ginger biscuits, which I always buy from my local supermarket. Now, they ARE tasty!
(I'm quite partial to a nice Fig Roll, Custard Creams, Jammie Dodgers, Chocolate Hobnobs or Rich Tea biscuits too)! They're all very bad for the waistline, though, lol.
