Kind of unusual Black Beauty

It's rare to see this version with the gold plating intact. Seems to me like this particular model was skimped on during application and the ones I've seen all have plenty of wear on the doors. I bought this maybe 20 years ago from a woman who's husband worked for Gillette. Haha, it coulda been total BS on her part telling me that, steering me to a sale using some juicy provenance. Hell, I do that for easy Limey sales all the time.

So this is dated 1969 (O3) and it's about close to perfect for a 56 year old double edge of this bright and shiny yellow version. Everything movable on it is smooth as butter.......heh. Never could bring myself to ever get it wet. No reason to bother that I could see since I've had plenty of SAs in my arsenal over the years.

Case may or may not be correct and no idea on the blades either. Just a little ray of gold to brighten up the forum.

Certainly not to enable anyone, I'll just mention those Black Beauties in general are all very good performers. I'm not sure but it may have the same head as the Slim. Not a bad thing.

I have a birth year super adjustable but not a gold one. Yours does look very nice.
I have a rare gold slim twist which I've never used and probably hasn't seen any use.
Always found the Fatboy to be the best performer of the Gillette twist-to-open varieties.

I won't use long handled razors, and I wouldn't be caught dead with an adjustable.
I use em all. Long/short/adjustable/fixed.....each has it's place in my rotation. I prefer and use one over all the others but a change of pace is part of the fun.

I can't think of an easier vintage Gillette to start shaving with than a long handle SA. Adjusted to minimal blade exposure takes a good bit of the chance of blood out of the way. Especially when compared to beginning with an aggressive razor that even veterans have to be careful of. No open combs for example.

Yep, although the Toggle is pretty interesting too seeing as it has the uncommon head design that's very nice and mostly built like the FB. I prefer the Fatboy handle though.

My first non-disposable safety razor was a Gillette OLD Type, first shave with it was flawless and efficient. No training wheels for me.

Too longsome for you to handle, a super adjustable stick.

A great example, and for balance, i use adjustable 99% of the time, saw the barn doors as a kid and loved it, saw my first toggle when i was 10/11 years old and got one last year at 45 years old.
