Hiya,

So yeah, I saw this movie recently and it's good. Funny in parts and really sort of captivating in others. Heh, an interesting niche business that I woulda never thought existed. See what you think.

Martin

Oh yeah, it even has a good sound track as a bonus.

Is this the one with the guy who ends up working in a funeral parlour?, sounds terrible but is a great movie.

Yep......the guy loses his job playing cello in an orchestra and needs to make some cash. Well done flick.

Finally got around to watching this movie last night. WOW! What a brilliant film - beautifully directed and filmed and a great insight into Japanese culture (and reminders of my time in that country) but mainly into human emotions we all share. Touching, tender, gentle. I was rivetted throughout and deeply moved several times, not only when it touched on stuff close to my heart (which it did with great compassion).

I would never have heard of this movie except for your recommendation, Martin, so a million thanks for that. I'm so pleased I bought a blu-ray copy.

Nice review Carl,

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the movie as much as you did.

A very touching and moving film, very enjoyable, here's a link you can watch the whole film including subtitles on Youtube.

It does have more than a few good moments and thank you for that link. I'm wondering if I can find a copy that's dubbed in Svenskaland for Mikey. Yeah, the Japanese actors speaking that, just like in real life!

So when the option is there, do you have the foreign movies set on English audio or the natural language it was filmed in. Then I guess it would be subtitles.

My blu-ray copy auto-started in Japanese with English sub-titles (easy to read in white) - and the reason for that is - having been and checked - it only has English subtitles. I bet you could buy a multi-lingual version for Unca Mikey.
