Is it just me or does anyone else find the second shave with a blade is more comfortable than the first. :?:

Totally agree. For me astra's are quite rough on shave 1 then perfect for the next 2.

If I hand strop, I find the astra's only last 2 shaves.

Occasionally I get a nice first shave if my prep and soap mix is spot on but more than often the 2nd shave is more comfortable 99% of the time, usually it is not quite as close as the first shave but definitely a lot smoother.

I do palm stop the blade before the first use and am sure it makes feck all difference but it is one of those rituals I do and cant help it now. A bit like the blade flippers, just a habit that you can't help or stop.

I find the Indian and Russian Gillettes are smoother on the second shave but all the other blades I've tried seem to cut it from the first (pun intended).
