Hi All,
I've been through a pretty revelatory path over the past couple of years. I had stopped wet shaving in my teens after being convinced my skin was too sensitive for blades (I was using the typical Mach 3 or whatever it was going at the time, circa late 90's). I spent the next 20 years using a set of clippers and never even bothered with wet shaving.
Anyways, by chance, a couple of years ago a cheap but decent DE Wilkinson sword razor was accidentally packed in our online Morrisons grocery order, customer services told me to keep it. Out of nothing more than curiosity I loaded it up, and with my wife's aerosol shaving foam I had my first proper wet shave at the ripe age of 40. And off we go
I've now got a nice pair of DE's from Tatara - a closed comb Masamune and an open comb Nodachi.
Then about 6 weeks ago I got myself my first straight razor, being a Dovo Bismarck. Absolutely love it, I'm hooked. I really enjoy the prep, stropping etc. Very therapeutic and rewarding when you have the blade just right. My shaving technique and skill is picking up, still leave a few patches on the curve of my chin and Adams Apple, which I clean up with the DE. But each shave feels like progress.
Happy days!
