I've heard very good things about Shapton stones but I have no experience, I use Naniwas which are much cheaper then Shaptons. After 1K I would say 6K would be better then 8K, also I've heard that some companies produce combination stones like Norton 4k and 8K combi stone that are bonded each other, these are cheaper than buying 2 stones. So if you can get a 1K shapton for bevel setting and get a combi stone to use between the bevel and finishing stones.thanks for help on this , very much appreciated.... i aim to get the shapton 1k (heard excellent reports about it). should i get the 6k or 8k shapton? would that be too much of a bridge between the stones?....
That's Good..The 1st Port of Call is a Shave Ready SR & Strop..Learn to Shave & Strop..2nd Port of Call by Many is Pastes on a Pasted Strop or Otherwise..3rd Port of Call Would be a 12 K Stone for Refresh Jobs & Off You Go..thank you both for the excellent advice...with the money i can save on stones i can get a really good razor, i have my eye on one at the moment. So my first port of call in the 12k finishing stone...then i can always add stones if and when i need them.
thanks again people i have actually learned more from this advice than most advice out there at the moment.
