Hello,

I've just signed up after some lengthy perusing of the newbie and help threads. What a great resource!

I wanted to make the move from a cartridge razor subscription to DE shaving to be more environmentally friendly and just because I fancied the look of it: the ritual and all; lathering up etc.

I put this list on my Xmas list (https://www.independent.co.uk/extra...ens-grooming/best-safety-razors-10111508.html) and hoped for any except the one with the bamboo handle.

Anyway my mother in law got me the one with the bamboo handle... and I started DE shaving on Christmas Day and, naturally, got loads of nicks and looked like a right wally at Christmas dinner!

So I've now got a Bodyshop synthetic brush, some Wilkinson sword shaving soap and a couple of packs of Astra blades, and am gradually honing my technique, with the help of various videos and threads. I'm pleased to say I've seen a big drop off in the number of nicks too!

Out of interest, is that list from the Independent any good?

Cheers!

Pete

Hello and welcome Pete, trust the mother in law!
Any of those razors on that list would have been a good choice, even the one with the bamboo handle! :)
You will soon be shaving like a pro :)

Paul.

Hi & Welcome.

If you don't get on with the bamboo handle then treat yourself to the King C Gillette 3 piece you can pick up in morrisons or online somewhere.
It's around £15 or under when on offer. And for the price is an exceptional razor.

Hope your shaves go well.

Thank you for the recommendation but I seem to be getting on ok with it so far. I think if I'm still using it by next Christmas I might upgrade to something a bit fancier ;)
