Why what? Is it I have to switch it off to up/download torrents? If I don't switch it off then my IP is invisible and up/downloaders can't find or communicate with me.

Because of Piracy issues from Torrents.
I just use Chrome and PIA vpn to access some sites but Torrentday has everything I generally look for and always has plenty of seeders.

As @Johnny Bravo says. UK law requires Internet Providers to block certain sites. The list includes Torrenting, Iptorrents, KickassTorrents, PirateBay, and lots more.
