Good April Fool Stories

I recall many years ago an April Fool's Day article in a paper. The article was about making the Driving Test harder, which was a current topic. It started off with some entirely authentic suggestions - basic, routine maintenance - that sort of thing which pulled the readers in. As the article progressed it got less and less sensible ending up with the idea that hill starts would be done with the candidates watch sitting immediately behind one of the rear tyres.

Good one I thought!

The BBC programme Panorama came up with a filmed story showing people harvesting spaghetti from trees - probably some time in the early 1960s. Amazingly lots of people were taken in.

Actually a true story - in the 1912 Oxford v Cambridge boat race, which was held on Sunday 31st March, both crews sank due to the terrible weather. The race was then re-rowed on the Monday, which was April Fool's day (and won by Oxford).
