Watching our increasingly consumer focused cultures and societies I found this minimalist concept rather intriguing.

Go Deeper, Not Wider

I keep imagining a tradition I’d like to invent. After you’re established in your career, and you have some neat stuff in your house, you take a whole year in which you don’t start anything new or acquire any new possessions you don’t need. No new hobbies, equipment, games, or books are allowed...

Some fairly obvious thoughts on its application to our "hobby"/"obsession" spring to mind :)
 
I've been a minimalist / stoic for many years

I don't own more than 100 items (a pair of socks counts as two items ... but I never pair them ... no point) and I'm not attached to anything

I could walk out of my house with 2 minutes notice in the clothes I'm standing up in and not miss a single item

Hi vinny (not Joe).
Nice to see you back on the forum again.
I know we didn't really know each other but I do remember and miss your wit.
I will always remember to stand closer to the razor when shaving!
