Gillette Rubie Ultra Stainless Blades

I can't be 100% certain, but I think the last one the blue Gillette London Bridge is made in India by Vertice for the Indonesian market perhaps?

The only Egyptian made Gillette I can think of that is currently being made and sold is the Nacet, some of which have been cropping up for sale on US Amazon.

I have seen those before (had posted them here on the forum):

These are the Egyptian made:

My blade 'mule' made it back in country and handed me five tucks of 5 + 1 blades as in the OP's original post photo. I have examined them relatively closely and they appear genuine, at least after a preliminary exam. Off the cuff, I would venture a guess that they are the Super Thin blade merely packaged differently and that's OK as those are excellent blades, barring some counterfeit Vietnam market ones that made rounds here in the USA circa 10 yrs. ago. Regardless, I will use one tomorrow.

That's very interesting indeed, thanks for posting it. I think some of these blades are a fascinating insight into some of these logistics in this day and age.

Indeed, however I wonder if it's not "the way things are done today" but rather points to Gillette trying to keep pace with demand, now complicated by the war. Some of the moves seem non-sensical

- Even before the war, we saw Gillette China manufacturing Gillette Wilkinson Sword for India whilst India was still producing them too (solely, for years beforehand)
- Gillette India outsourcing blade manufacturing to Vertice India, which is unprecedented for Gillette, as far as I know
Here we can see Vertice manufacturing Gillette Wilkinson Sword for Bangladeshi distribution

- Gillette Brazil continues to make Wilkinson Sword for Brazil, Minora for other Latin American/Carribean countries but production of Gillette Super Thin Mejorda is shifted to China. Gillette Platinum Barber blades are manufacturd in China for distribution in Brazil. Perhaps due to Gillette Brazil taking on manufacture of King C Gillette and Astra blades

- Shift of production of Gillette London Bridge Orange for South-East Asia from China to India

- Also, the appearance of Chinese made Astra for Turkey. One would think that the Russian factory is running under capacity, and that they would continue manufacturing exportable blades there as much as possible

Vietnam's got the Super Thin Platinum, Thailand has the Super thin. They are different blades. Vietnam did have a non-platinum Super Thin version, once upon a time.

I apologise because I am not a native English speaker, so I may have misunderstood. Do you mean that you obtained a pack of five Chinese Rubies blades and think they might be the same as Gillette Super Thin blades, just in different packaging? I would be interested to read your assessment of how you find them after using them.

Well, I used one today and to make the test as objective as possible I used plain ol' reliable Arko soap and a Canadian post-war Tech razor. The shave was a 'boring' perfect Gillette type shave. It shaved exactly as all other bonafide Gillette Shanghai blades do, superbly.

I think the trick is to get authentic blades as the Asian market is simply rife with counterfeit blades. I emphasized this to my Filipina friend before her visit and she knew exactly how to handle it by the results obtained.

Here are some photos I took, however someone will have to repost them for me (please) as the nutters are still blocking IMGUR in the UK and I am not going to seek another host.

To respond, and also to @Sandpaper from another thread, my blades are identical to these. My brother brought them home to me from the Philippines.
My experience shaving with them? They give me a close shave and little to no irritation, but they tug considerably.
To me, they feel very similar to Gillette Silver Blues - maybe a little less tug. So, like GSBs, I don't get on with these blades.
Having said that, GSBs are revered by many shavers, who often call them "The blade of the Gods."
If you love your GSBs, you may also like these blades, but as we all know, blade compatibility is a fickle thing.
