Gillette blades and their factory/country origins

It's the 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge for Pakistan market - the yellow pack. This is the green pack.
Yes! I wished to point out that there are also packages without any indication of the target market or the country in which the blade is sold.
This is the Super Stainless green pack.

This is an article from a local Pakistani newspaper discussing the history of Gillette Pakistan, a Procter & Gamble subsidiary, which manufactured razor blades between 1989 and 1994 and had to compete with giants such as Treet Corp. and Supermax. The factory in Hub, Pakistan, closed in May 2000 after 11 years of operation.

Here's 70'clock Platinum from that factory:

Yes, these indeed indicate production in Pakistan. In light of this, it can be stated that between the late 1990s and the early 2000s, the 7 O’Clock Platinum were manufactured in Pakistan, while the 7 O’Clock with Sun were produced in Poland.

The blades in the pic would assumedly have been made some time between 1989-1994. Manufacturing of blades started at that factory in 1989, and the name of the company was changed from Interpak Shaving Products to Gillette Pakistan in 1994.

Poland would only have been early-mid 90s, I believe. Gillette acquired Wizamet in 1992 and didn't make DEs there for long.

Have you come across any pic of Pakistani-made Gillette blades produced as recently as 1998 or 1999?

I was looking into the production shifts of Gillette blades. It is well known that many production lines were moved from the PPI plants to India and China, but this is the first time I have read about a Gillette manufacturing presence in Pakistan, reading a thread on the B&B forum.

Moreover, that information dates back about three years, while Gillette more recently at the end of 2025, announced its withdrawal from operations in Pakistan. I therefore find it hard to believe that the company intends to open a blade manufacturing plant there, considering it already has two facilities in India.

Compare to this post from Treet's CEO blog: https://syedsheharyarali.com/razor-...l-manufacturing-decision-mean-for-its-rivals/ < from 2020 ... seems Treet "won".

I agree. I don't see Gillette opening in Pakistan, so China is the most likely to shore up production.
I agree.
In a normal situation, I believe the current setup could remain unchanged, or alternatively a significant share of PPI production could gradually be shifted to the Gillette plant in Shanghai.

Given the current international instability, while we hope that the war in Ukraine will come to an end and that the PPI facility in Russia may once again produce blades for Western markets as it did in the past, it is natural to wonder what could happen if a similar crisis were to arise between China and Taiwan. In such a scenario, new trade or logistical restrictions could not be ruled out.

India already has two plants, with the main site located in Baddi, in addition to the blades produced by Vertice Global for Gillette.
However, both the number of machines installed and the actual production capacity of Gillette’s facility in Egypt remain unclear.

Looking ahead, it would not be unrealistic to imagine the establishment of a new Gillette blade factory in countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan or Turkey. Such a decision, however, would depend on many difficult to predict factors: industrial costs, geopolitical stability, logistical infrastructure, and above all the target markets that the production would be intended to supply. I would rule out Pakistan because of its proximity to India. Bangladesh could be a candidate, particularly because of its low labour costs or they will increase production at the Gillette factory in Egypt.
This last option currently seems the simplest and most natural solution should it become necessary to suddenly move production to another factory.
