hi there
very new to SE shaving nad looking to get my first one, can I have peoples opinions on this as a first one? GEM 1912 SINGLE EDGE SAFETY RAZOR

It would be the classic one to start off with. It the one usually talked about when one talks about SE's. They're reasonably priced, wait for one in good condition. They're not that hard to find.

My first SE was a Star Cadet, which is much the same as a 1912 and started me off on a new wave of shaving things to obsess about. Excellent shavers too - not sure the one in the picture is a 1912 pattern though??

Do you know what year it is?

It appears to be marked March 24/14 on the back of the razor head. I've not seen that handle pattern on a 1912, but I could be wrong?

1912 is the most comfortable SE razor I have tried(tried around 5 models) I wish it had extra long handles though.
