Here's a nice Myers roundpoint in new ripple ash scales, done for one of the gentlemen here. First, an exploded view:

And the finished article:

and showing the aluminium "third pin" spacer:

Finally, one of those balance pictures which gssixgun likes to post on SRP:

Hope you like it.

That's lovely!

I wish you buggers would stop posting open razor porn, it's almost tempting to try one again, again!

Andy,

Absolutely stunning! Never seen anything like it! Curious about the washers on the pivot ( 2nd to last picture ) is it just me or are they a little off or the way picture was taken? Thanks and look forward to many more work my friend.

Yes, Ivan, you got me there. The holes were oversized in the friction washers (see first pic), and they wound up out of alignment - annoying, but shouldn't affect the function one jot. I'm considering bribing our mutual friend Ralfy to run off a proper batch of these for me.

Andy,

No offense intended my friend. Everytime I use my Yaichi ( rarely ) it itches how sloppy I got or at least neglect got the best of me.

This was my first pin by the way. Attempted to clean the scales off of grime and what not. Used Microfasteners

Hex Head Bolt, Brass0-80x1/2
Hex Nut, Small Pat. Brass 0-80
Flast Washer, Brass #0
Flat Washer, Brass #0 x 3/16OD
Socket Wrench #0 3/32

CLICK for large:

Please excuse the shoddy pics.

See the wedge here how it looks misaligned? It really is and it doesn't even close at centre. It's a bit off. Garbage

Birdeye view-you can clearly see how the Hex Head of screw is out of alignment:

I like yours much better and doesn't affect performance of shave. Mine however has faults from peening of the machine screw which resulted in blade not centering properly when closed and misaligned appearance as pictured.

Those washers were kindly supplied by Neil along with the usual Microfasteners 1/8" ones for the outside of the razor. He also gave me instructions, which I followed to the letter: "The thicker / larger washers are the same size as the ones Dovo now uses - I think they are a bit thick for friction washers, so I put them on a bit of flat steel and bash with a flat-face hammer to thin them a bit". Short of devising some sort of blanking jig and punch to make them out of brass shimstock, or getting Ralfy to turn them, these washers are a bit of a problem on account of the thickness - nobody seems to supply them off the shelf. The main thing is to get something in there to provide clearance!

Can't see much wrong with your razor Ivan. I have one which has to be closed very carefully to avoid it fouling the scales - presumably yours doesn't have that problem? That's the next rescale project in fact, but I'm fighting shy of unpinning it because whoever installed it in the current scales obviously had no intention of it ever coming out again ...

Andy,

Due to the piss poor shots it's hard to notice the flaws. Technically I don't have to be at all careful closing the blade but if you are looking at the cross-section it leans more to the right. Also looking at it birds-eye view you can see that the wedge pin isn't as straight as it should be. It's like an upside down "J" where the hook is on the right side. The peening could have been better at the wedge. I got lazy and paid the price for it. Rather than cutting down excess started hammering away and thus ended up with a peen that looks like crap.

I try not to look at the peen job because it annoys me
