FREE TESTERS GIVEAWAY – Bay Rum Shaving Soap Bar & Bay Rum Aftershave Balm!

I have placed my soap sample into my PIF to give someone else a chance to test and hopefully review it for you @p.105
I found it ticked all my boxes, easy to lather on all brush types.
The scent was great evening the wife thought it was a wonderful Bay Rum and I paticularly liked the slickness even after rinsing off to allow for a touch up here and there.
Lastly I enjoyed the post shave feeling, you did a fantastic job with your base and scent profile, very impressive.
I can't really add anything more that I have not already posted and I can't even offer any improvement because you nailed it for me, hence my decision to move it on.
I have placed an order on your site for the soap, aftershave and hand soap and it's winging it's way too me now and I look forward to trying one or two more of your offerings later on.
Thank you very much for the opportunity in testing, and I hope I gave you some constructive and more importantly useful feedback on both items.
Thank you very much, Pauline

The soap is really starting to work well with use, it is getting easier to pick up as the top absorbs a bit of water.
Another great lather whipped up with the smaller CH1, again, producing enough held in the brush for a 3 pass shave.
I do like this version of Bay Rum, although, a have to admit i prefer a darker, heavier scented Bay Rum.
Saying that, Mrs TC is off work today and commented on how nice i smell, she was wondering what the scent was in the bathroom this week, i have kept the scuttle in the bathroom cupboard and the puck must have scented the room.
The ATT - Polsilver pairing is working really well for me lately.
Enjoy your day all.

A really nice shave from the unguarded version of these cheap Chinese Artist-style SE blades.
This particular blade won't fit in the Oren due to poor tolerances when making the blades, but it works well in the Excalibur head.

The Arko is an old one that I pressed into a ramekin years ago. It now has no remaining scent so can be used without requiring a nose peg.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Razor: Yaqi Excalibur (Artist-style single edge blades)
Blade: Chinese Captain Pro Touch MG Blue (unguarded)
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Amber Aerolite Stygian Synthetic
Lather: Arko pressed into bowl, no scent remaining
Aftershave: Akcay Tobacco
Please don't take this the wrong way but did you mean to post here?

As i may have mentioned, i like the scent a lot. I used a Razorrock GC 84, Bic Blade (1st use) and a PAA Cube as pre shave. The soap lathers really easily, a nice very pleasant not overpowering scent. Went on easily providing a thick cushion for the razor to glide over. No issues with removing a few days growth. And it felt clean and fresh when i rinsed the lather off.

Now onto the A/S. A great scent, it’s fair to say that the liquid is or feels a little more dense / thicker than other Aftershaves. So I’d suggest when applying you rub it in rather than do what you do with other Aftershaves. And because of that it also takes a little while to soak in / be absorbed / dry a little. This is not to say it’s drying in anyway. As even after shaving a number of hours ago, my skin still feels soft and moisturised. Another observation would be on the opening of the bottle. It has no mechanism to filter the liquid, so as others have commented, be careful when deploying it to avoid wastage.

This is not a criticism in anyway, just an observation. And i put my finger over the top after opening and inhibited the flow that way. I use this method for other balms / aftershaves to ensure i don’t waste them.

I’d certainly buy it again, and other scent profiles. And something else to mention, if you do order from Folk Soap, i can thoroughly recommend the solid shampoos bars as well. Worked wonders on my hair and more importantly my scalp and last for absolutely ages!

The CH1 is just about the perfect size for the soap puck, picking up plenty of soap from about 15 to 20 seconds loading. The soap seems to be getting better / easier with use. Today it produced another nicely scented, thick protective lather and the brush held enough for my 3 pass shave.
The Blade modification to the second Enders carrier was used today, again the dimensions replicate the original blade. I completed 3 full passes consisting of WTG, ATG and then XTG to finish. The result is an easy, comfortable, no issue BBS finish. I really like these Enders razors.
The Post shave was very nice, just using a little of the A/S balm and letting it absorb into the skin before adding a splash of the DRH. My skin is feeling really good.
Enjoy your day all.

So i have used the Folks soap for a full week and really enjoyed it, I do like a stronger scented Bay Rum with Cloves and Anise, but this is nice, i have the stronger scented Stirling so this is a nice change, lets say Sweeter and less pungent. It has Produced really good lathers all week using natural badger brushes, i have had no issues with my skin and it has always given good protection and slickness. It has left my face feeling nourished after each shave. Next week i will give it a run out with both a Synthetic and a Smog-Hog.
The Balm needs a good shake and now it is in a spray bottle (one of those small ones from an air travel pack) i have the amount i need off to a tee, about 4 short sprays gives a good coverage which absorbs easily.
So all in all i can recommend both the soap and the balm.
The Blutt - Polsilver performed flawlessly.
Enjoy your day all.

Using a fairy dry Boar, basically a half inch deep dip and shake out then load up the soap, the brush picked up plenty and made a "proto-lather" on top of the soap in quick time, i transferred the "proto-lather" to the face and started building up the covering, dipping the tips to add water to the lather, i have to say in no time at all i had a very nice covering with the brush holding enough for 3 passes.
So, the Folk Soap passed the Boar brush test easily.
The Balm in the spray bottle really does make it easier to judge how much you need to use.
The Enders provided a very pleasing BBS shave from 3 full passes.
Spot on that.
Enjoy your day all.
