I shaved with cartridges thereafter, having been on the disposables before. Wilko Retractor, from memory.

I did get a Wilkinson Sword brush from the supermarket at some point in the earlier 2000s.

Aside from that, it was a puck of MWF (yes, I think this was my first purchase), a Merkur 23C with the long handle and then a badger brush from eBay. A pal from another forum who I met on here sent me a pack of mixed blades to get going with while my kit arrived.

the 1st shaving gear i ordered offline was a puck of tabac & mitchells from amazon ,didn,t even know mitchells was made in bradford till it arrived ,lived in leeds allmost all my life .go figure

Another Wilkie Classic buyer - I wanted to get away from carts for environmental reasons but wasn't sure I could handle a DE - the Classic was readily available and wouldn't break the bank if I decided to go back to carts.

Shaving just used to be shaving, nothing traditional about it, unless you had a straight razor, but those were scary as hell to a just barely teenager. The barber did a good job around your ears and the back of your neck with one, but you couldn't see what he was doing very well in the mirror.

First buy was a twisty Gilette (Whatever model Thrift Drug or Rexall was pushing in the late 1950's.) and probably a pack of Blue's, not the Supers, they were a ways off.

Does toilet paper count as a traditional shaving item? We seemed to use a fair bit of it back then!
