Very much so! It's a shame when it's piggybacking such a good shave! It's not deterred me, however. Just a tad red and and tingly at the minute! Next one will be betterSaw your post in SOTD Ben. It really is a downer when you have a poor shave isn't it?
I know exactly what you mean. Your next shave will be perfect!Very much so! It's a shame when it's piggybacking such a good shave! It's not deterred me, however. Just a tad red and and tingly at the minute! Next one will be betterI was looking forward to tonight's shave as well which is the most frustrating bit!
You could have said that an hour ago!! Yeah I think I was a little too "firm" today as I felt a little too light yesterday whereas I think it was more maintaining the right angle in certain areas that was the problem.
Result was a few more nicks but it's more razor burn on my neck and lower jaw area that is the problem. Bit slower and more gentle tomorrow methinks

Hi Paul
I didn't yesterday but did the day previously and again today. I went back to proraso green ore shave and green soap today and no razor burn.
I think I was just a little hung ho yesterday buoyed by my first day success. Slower and lighter again today. No razor burn but not quite as smooth. I think i need to improve my technique as it's where my beard grows at angles that isn't so good as I don't maintain angle as well when shaving in different directions to straight up and down. It will come [emoji106]

here's my two bob's worth of humble advice...I've trained my mind to "Shave the lather from my face, rather than the stubble"..this has helped me a great deal, and taught me to apply next to zero pressure to the razor, just letting the weight of the razor & blade do the work and me guding it to do so..Your right about Learning your technique, take your time and you'll see the rewards...Remember,it takes a while for your skin to adjust to DE shaving..
@Paul L is right about Wilkinson's body butter, a excellent Pre-shave,at a very reasonable cost..i would like to add, that you get some "Aloe Vera Gel" also as a post shave, this i guarantee with help 100% with irritation & razor burn, if you have a "Bodycare" shop in your area,i recommend you get some it only costs 99 pence...It's excellent stuff.
Last but not least, enjoy your new shaving experience. Regards.
Great minds..and all that, i get my witch hazel & essential oils from home bargains, i add some peppermint oil for my " spring & summer mix" and lavender oil for my " Autumn & winter mix" ,and your right it doesn't have to be a expensive thing..it's just some people are "brand name snobs", but it's a matter of choice what people want to buy...95p pre shave and 99p post shave
Who said "proper" shaving had to be expensive !
I've recently made a scented witch hazel mixture that cost less than £2. It helps to reduce razor burn and tones the skin.
I appreciate that more expensive products formulated for shaving purposes are also very good, but those who are new to DE shaving may find that the cheaper products work for them , leaving them with more cash to spend on good quality brushes and shiny expensive razors and the like !
I found that mapping my beard really helped. I was actually shaving across the grain on parts of my neck on the first pass, and against the grain on the second pass. Then obviously shaving with the grain on the third pass. Since establishing how my beard grows and shaving accordingly, I have had very little irritation.Something of interest.
