It's usually because they are daft enough to think they can reduce eBay fees by loading the postage. That loophole was closed years ago100% agree Wayne! Real problem on EBay that one. Charge you £4 so you assume it will be a small parcel, then they've sent it for 90-odd pence as a letter!
As always common sense provides the best solutionIn my view good regular members of our community are more likely to give you something for nothing rather than con someone. Just make sure its a regular contributor and it's normally fine.

I have a credit card linked to one of my pay pal accounts (the one SWMBO knows about!)So far I haven't had any issues here, or any other wet shaving forum/facebook with trust and I always pay F&F.
Never bought from a complete stranger on the forum though (minimum post count or something like that). I know I'm at risk, but if I'm willing to take it there's no one to blame if something goes wrong. I trust we are all gentlemen and this is not such a huge community and in case something DOES go wrong 2 people can agree to share the cost or work something else out.
Anyway, The fee isn't for nothing. It's for buyer protection. If you want it, as a service I think it's ok someone pays for it. Who should pay - I don't know what is fair. Maybe 50/50.
If you pay with online banking you would also pay for a bank charge, especially if you're buying international payments both the buyer and the seller have charge. Comparing the PayPal fee with that is miniature.
My main issue with PayPal is I have to use my card and it always takes me some other fees for using cards, whatever the name is. But I have no way of paying otherwise do I?! (I can only have a balance if I sell, but I mostly buy)
I'm not always paid F&F and I thought I had been around quite a while..Agreed. Everyone likes a bargain but as you say selling is hard enough as it is without adding onto an already low price. If a seller has been around for a while and has a decent reputation then F&F is the way I'll pay, if its a newbie then I will protect myself and pay the fee's, ultimately it's a chance we all take and it's down to the individual. Personally I find Royal Mail more of a challenge than PP. At least you get your money with PP. Normally it's the mail carrier losing the item that causes the dispute. These days I will give the buyer the choice of budget or tracked post they make their choice but I always advise I will take no responsibility if they take the budget route which I think is fair providing I post the picture of the proof of post.
Did I not pay you F&F mate? I thought I had, If not it must have been an oversight on my part and if I didn't I apologise.I'm not always paid F&F and I thought I had been around quite a while..
Lol, no, I paid the feesDid I not pay you F&F mate? I thought I had, If not it must have been an oversight on my part and if I didn't I apologise.
Ooo Gawd sorry my friend. I've checked the transaction but it doesn't tell me if I sent it F&F or not. IOU £2.24.Lol, no, I paid the fees
As soon as I found out my mistake I payed back the fees plus extra. I may have made a mistake but it was rectified immediately so at least I can't be called by anyone!
That tickled me.
If you still have the receipt I'd love to see it. I can't find out anything this end. Cheers. It was indeed an oversight by Wayne, I chuckled too!
