Feathered Friends from the Garden

Those are excellent. Despite our house backing on to woods we get very few birds in the garden. Before moving, my B in L counted over 20 different birds in one day in our previous house.

How long you been snapping? I have a d40 x I think and can't take good pics.

Very nice shots meaning we are on the subject of native British birds I rescued 5 fledgling Blue tits and 1 tiny fledgling Wren last week they were beautiful little creatures. PS I've also been watching the successful hatch of a Nut hatch family in my local park.

I live a few miles outside of a town, so countryside for all intensive purposes, and we have a great array of wildlife here.

Yesterday we had juvenile Magpies being fed all day in a tree behind us. You'd see mother flying in and then the hellish squeaking commence as they cried to be fed.

Seed, peanuts, fat balls... anything to lure them in here, although the feckin Yellowhammers have been a nightmare eating all the grass seed on our newly lawn.

Been tapping away with great interest since about 2007. Nikon D40X is a good camera. To get the best results out of any camera you need to understand the relationship between light, aperture and shutter speed. understanding those fundamentals is a great start into photography.

Yep, I had a great set-up where I was pretty much at eye level with the birds.

The feeders hang at about 6ft from various branches on a tree on our ditch.

I sit in a camo/chair/tent thing on a heighten piece of land that sits above where the ditch meets the ground. I'm only about 12-15 foot away from the feeders.

During the bad icy/snowy winters we had a couple of years ago they were more or less waiting for me when I went up in the morning to fill the feeders. Especially the robins, who it felt were almost talking to you ->

Wowsers, those are some awesome pics!
Our home backs on to some woods and it's full of birds, squirrels and even foxes. Wish I could take photos of them at some point though...

Particularly like picture no 4 and 6 (first set) with less distracting backgrounds (bokeh). Picture 6 has good lighting (slightly diffused on bird) depth and contrast.
